Ground Bearing Capacity Testing

We receive many enquiries for projects where the ground bearing capacity of a slab needs evaluating due to refurbishment or changes to the structure and loading profile on the ground bearing slab. Often the loading changes are due to a mezzanine being added to the internal structure of a building. When carrying our plate load testing it is often necessary to core through the ground bearing slab in order to gain access to the subbase material that needs testing. This is often the material that the foundations are resting on, and we carry out excavation in order to complete the plate load testing at the correct depth.

Our structural engineer is able to evaluate client requirements and results obtained in order to verify if the existing slab is able to bear additional weight.
